Paddington Central

When the client first contacted us to investigate a leak, we went to inspect rooflights to identify the problem.  Having viewed the rooflights and inspected the works, it was identified that the sealant to the perimeter of the rooflights appeared to be at fault.

The client requested that the works would cause as little disruption as possible to the retail areas, and together with any worked on areas MUST be released back for public use within 48 hours. This then became an interesting challenge, as the sealant joints had a width of up to 60mm and these said joints where also subject to public foot traffic.

Following consultation with sealant manufacturers Adshead Ratcliffe, a sealant joint design was agreed to, together with the correct sealant types. A two-fold application was needed for this particular requirement which involved the removal of all previously applied sealant, and a full total cleaning of the substrates to ensure maximium adhesion for the newly applied sealants. This involved a primary seal of Arbosil 1096, and then to ensure the joint would cure within the required time-span, while also being suitable for foot traffic, the surface joint was sealed with Arbokol 2020.
